Pocket PC CAD Software

Whenever someone thinks of drafting and CAD software as a whole, most people get the image in their head of some architect hunched over a keyboard on their PC in a poorly lit room. This however is not always the case and as technology gets better and shrinks down, the pocket PC CAD software market grows. Pocket PC CAD software is much like any other drafting software on the market, only it runs on mobile units. This not only allows freedom for the drafter to get out of the office, but they can make adjustments on the field and test them. The history of drafting was largely based in offices but over the past few years, more and more work is being done or edited live on the location and pocket PC CAD software has produced a lot of great benefits. While the average consumer isn’t benefiting from pocket PC CAD software, the architects and professional sectors most certainly are.

Drafting has had a humble beginning. It’s origins in the modern world belong in the office or at home where the drafter would be hunched over large pieces of paper drawing out ever wall and every door. This age of drafting was radically altered when the advent of the computer came along. However the computers rarity and size once again forced the drafter inside and hunched over a keyboard. This became incredibly monotonous but quickly changed when the personal computer became a viable option. No longer stuck in the office the drafter was free to once again work from home on their PC but they were still stuck over a keyboard. As the PC industry grew and pocket PC’s became smaller and more powerful, the drafting industry took note. Soon a slew of different pocket PC CAD solutions came flooding onto the market and the drafter was free to work wherever they wanted to.

While the pocket PC today is still not powerful enough to do any real 3D modeling or simulating, it does have its advantages. Pocket PC CAD software is mainly used by architects to adjust floor plans. With not nearly enough power and a weaker interface pocket PC CAD has yet to make the jump to any heavy use in today’s drafting markets. Programs such as Pocket CAD however have made a splash and they are being used. With the ability to walk on the location and edit the floor plan at the same time is something that is relatively new to the industry. Any heavy drafting will still for the foreseeable future use laptops though. Even without a lot of strong processing power pocket PC CAD software has made a great contribution to various drafters and has laid a strong foundation to be built upon. The industry is keeping its eyes on pocket PC CAD developments and in the future it may have one a major platform.

While pocket PC CAD software may not be the next big thing, it certainly has its place in the CAD market. More so it shows that drafting has not yet hit a dead end and continues to evolve much like it has from the old days and pencil and paper. Pocket PC CAD software will continue to grow and with the future improvements upon computing technology it will become a force to be reckoned with on the field. Growth in the drafting sector has always been a good thing and in terms of what can be accomplished we are nowhere near a perfect CAD solution. There will always be new features and platforms to be explored and pocket PC CAD proves it.
