CAD Shareware Rocks
When talking about CAD software there is always one thing that lingers over the heads of those who love drafting and CAD and that is the price. For adults the price isn’t so much an issue as it is an investment. A couple hundred to a thousand dollars isn’t a great deal of money and certainly isn’t impossible to come up with but for kids and students who are interested in the subject, this small catch can instantly turn them off of the subject. The great part about software though is the inevitability that there will be shareware. Shareware is either a piece of software that offers a free trial or is downloadable for a small one time fee. CAD shareware allows for end users to try the expensive solutions that they would otherwise never get the chance to and to even attain a copy of real CAD software that is powerful for a price they can afford. CAD shareware helps the industry in a lot of different ways.
The first aspect to CAD shareware is the ability to try expensive software that you would otherwise have no means of trying. While for students this isn’t always a huge deal because often times the computer labs will have some sort of expensive CAD software installed for their engineering students, anyone who doesn’t have access to a lab like this will never get to try expensive programs such as AutoCAD. Tracking down someone who has a copy can often times be ridiculously hard if not impossible and downright awkward to ask them to use their software for awhile. CAD shareware eliminates this problem and gives everyone a chance to feel like a professional and use a professional program which they can then base their purchase of less expansive software off of. While it’s not the real thing it can make someone feel like it, even if it’s just for a few days.
The other aspect to CAD shareware which is probably the most important is the ability to download a program off the internet for a small fee and have a fully functioning CAD solution. Even some of the most expensive software such as rendering and animation programs has inexpensive and accessible shareware counter-parts such as Bryce. The fully online distribution method allows for a cut in prices because they no longer have to get stores to stalk their software and they don’t have to spend money to physically produce the software. These cheap alternatives give people who simply can’t or don’t want to pay the money for the more expensive professional pieces a choice. Not everyone needs the latest and greatest and often times the average drafted won’t need a lot of the advanced features which programs like AutoCAD charge for. This is where CAD shareware really provides a great deal of support to drafters.
Both because it gives everyone a chance to feel like an industry professional and it offers a cheaper solution to the most expensive software, CAD shareware rocks. No longer do people have to search tiresomely for a friend or friend of a friend to try the latest and greatest CAD software, they can simply download the CAD shareware off their website. No longer do people who don’t have the money or simply don’t want to spend the money have to resort to pirating or abstaining from drafting. CAD shareware has done a lot of good supporting the users and helping the industry as a whole grow.
