How CAD Engineering Revolutionized The World

From spoons to rocket ships CAD engineering has transformed the world we live in today. The simplest things we use in our lives have been touched by CAD engineering and the most complicated have raised the bar. Our society has gone from riding horses to riding rocket-ships and it wouldn't have been possible without CAD engineering. The tools we use to engineer our products are almost as amazing as the products themselves and both require each other to prosper. CAD Engineering has been the driving force behind production in the past few decades.

The number one industry that has been changed the most by CAD engineering is the transportation industry. There was a time when all cars were completely hand made and they were all one of a kind. Slowly this changed however and with the advent of the assembly line by Ford, cars would be in the perfect position to be affected by CAD engineering. Jump ahead one century and all cars big and small are modeled and tested in CAD software first. There isn't a modern car on the road that hasn't been effectively designed and tested on computers before being assembled on the line that Mr. Ford had implemented decades ago. Even this line though has been affected by CAD engineering. No longer is the assembly line manned by people but it is almost solely constructed of robots and machinery that all have been tooled and designed in some form of CAD software. Furthermore simulations and design of much more advanced vehicles such as jet aircraft and rocket-ships are now only possible because of CAD engineering.

While almost all of us drive cars today, even if you don't there have been aspects of your live that have been revolutionized by CAD engineering. As populations grow it becomes more cost effective to mass produce products. Any mass produced product is usually don't so through some sort of machinery or assembly line. These machines are painstakingly tooled and tested in CAD software. Each gear and cog had been modeled in the software and the entire machine is assembled and tested first on a computer. Everything from the silverware you eat with to the shoes you put on have either been designed in a modeling program or produced on a machine that relied upon this program to become a reality. It's a tough job to find anything that hasn't in one way or another been a by product of CAD engineering.

CAD engineering can be likened to a second industrial revolution. While the effects aren't as noticeable and a lot of the things done today could still have been accomplished before CAD engineering was invented; there are a lot of other things that simply weren't possible or weren't possible in their current form. With CAD engineering the world you live in would be drastically changed and most likely for the worse. It's amazing that a simple concept of modeling and testing using computers and translate into such a large revolution in the real world.
