Architectural CAD In Everyday Life
Most people never come to realize exactly how important architectural CAD is. From the houses people live in to the sheds they store their gardening tools in; all of these have had some profound impact by architectural CAD. Today it can be hard to find something that wasn’t originally drafted in some sort of architectural CAD program and even those things that weren’t, were most likely constructed by a company who had gotten to where they were by selling things that were heavily dependant on architectural CAD. In the modern days we live in, no longer do people simply build structures and hope they would stand. People no longer depend on years of experience to know what will look good and be safe in terms of engineering buildings. We live in an age where science and technology rule and all of the buildings that surround us were designed and tested with architectural CAD software.
Disasters and tragedies have always been a part of engineering and construction and fortunately for us these incidents are on a steep decline, but why? In the past construction workers and engineers were one in the same. Most people became engineers by working for years building things and using this experience to guide their judgment on what could and couldn’t be accomplished. Even though this experience helped greatly, it was no replacement for architectural CAD software obviously. Often times buildings would collapse in bad weather or storms and no amount of math could be applied reasonably at this time to stop these tragedies from occurring. Now and days every engineer uses some sort of architectural CAD software which allows them to not only look at what the building will look like, but using math and simulation functions inside the architectural CAD software they can test it against all the forces of the world. This advancement has produced buildings much safer than anything in the past. Architectural CAD software has ushered in a new age of safety in engineering.
While safety is the greatest of concerns when building a structure, it’s not the only one. The design and overall look must be pleasing to the eye and unfortunately for those who had to live in the structures, the people who could produce safe buildings were not exactly great artists, and those who could produce great looking buildings couldn’t build safe ones. With the advent of architectural CAD software everyone could see exactly what the building would look like before it was ever built. It allowed for artists and architects to critique the engineers work and for a suitable looking and safe house to be constructed on the computer screen long before it ever was built in real life. While safety was greatly increased, the good looks of unsafe buildings were brought to safe ones.
While it’s not always appreciated or even recognized, architectural CAD software has effected just about everyone in the modern world. From office buildings to the apartments we all live and work in, they have all been radically changed by the advent architectural CAD software. No longer do we fear our buildings falling down around us and no longer do we have to live in buildings that are unpleasing to the eye. Even those who lived a mere fifty years ago can marvel at the incredible architectural advances our society has made. Architectural CAD software is a godsend and as it improves we can only expect our surroundings to improve with it.
